Grand Canyon South Rim - South Kaibab Trail

Hiking

We stayed the night before our hike in lodging on the south Rim. After dinner at the El Tovar we went on a 2 mile hike along the rim to Grandeur Point and were treated to an unusual sight -- the setting sun was shining on the canyon but there were cloud formations over the canyon producing snow, and that created a rainbow over the Tonto Platform. What an unusual combination.

Next day, the South Kaibab Trail

The South Kaibab Trail has to be one of the most spectacular trials in the National Parks. The hike takes you along ridges and mesas rather than through canyons, so the entire hike has spectacular views. If anyone likes to hike the National Park trails, this hike has to be on their list of lists. Note of caution -- there is no water available on this trail.
